Question: Why can’t I get rid of lice on my own?

Answer: There are so many reasons why you have not been able to get rid of lice on your own and why you are now researching expert lice removal. One reason is that over the counter or drug store products that are bought for lice removal no longer work. The lice have built up an immunity to these chemicals and it is a waste of time and money to use them. They absolutely do not work. It is like pouring water on the lice, they will continue to live and thrive on your heads. I am actually amazed that these companies are still able to sell these products. Not only that but the chemical that is in the over the counter lice medicine is a neurotoxin that is proven to be toxic for your health.

Question: But I didn’t use over the counter toxic lice medication. I only used natural treatments I found online and we still have lice!?

Answer: Yes, this is unfortunate and it happens to most of us at some point in our life. Especially if we have kids. I also used a mixture of natural and over the counter lice treatments when my children had it 12 years ago. That is what led me on the path to helping other people remove their lice. I am now an expert at removing lice and I have dedicated my business to this process. The reason you cannot get rid of the lice, even though you are using natural treatments just like I do, is because of experience. Yes, it really boils down to repetition and the experience of knowing how to utilize the nit comb. My team and I have combed lice out of hundreds, possibly thousands of heads over the past 10-15 years. We can almost do the treatment in our sleep :) So what lice removal really takes is an expert in the removal of lice, someone who knows how to use the comb and get every nit and every lice from the head. It takes practice and that is something a lot of people do not have and most likely do not want to have. Hopefully you will only experience lice one time in your lifetime and if that happens it is most cost effective to use a professional. I train my ladies how to remove lice and it takes hours and multiple times of them shadowing me before I deem them experienced enough to go out on their own.

Question: Why is lice removal so expensive?

Answer: It is lice and an expert is removing it from your head. My team and I also travel to your home to do an in-home service. In-home lice removal is pricey but it is way more affordable and effective than when someone buys the wrong product and does it themselves and they still have lice. My own first time experience with lice was very pricey. I bought 4 boxes of over the counter lice medication for the first treatment and then bought them again 7 days later. That cost me $200 and we still had lice! If I had hired a professional we would have had our lice removed the right way the first time and I would not have wasted time and money, not to mention the stress it caused my family!

Question: Can I do my own recheck? That way I can save money by not having a second treatment?

Answer: Yes you can but then the 2 week guarantee I provide after if you get the second treatment is void. I can only give a 2 week guarantee if you have had me or one of my team for your second treatment. I can’t tell you how many times over the years I have had a family call me back a month or a couple months later and they are reinfested again because they chose to do their own second treatment. It is unfortunate because it is wasted time and money on that families part. I am always looking out for your best interest. So when I highly recommend a second treatment it is because that is the way to get rid of lice and I want you to be lice free!

Question: But why do I need a second treatment?

Answer: Because when lice lay their eggs (nits) on your hair they are microscopic at first. It takes them 5-7 days to hatch. So when you get your initial treatment eggs have been laid on your hair the day of your treatment and the day before and so on. The eggs that have just been laid are too small for the comb to get or for anyone to see. So they need that 5-7 days to get bigger so that they can be removed. If you leave those eggs in your hair they can hatch and start a reinfestation. It only takes two eggs to start a new outbreak.

Question: So I only need 2 treatments total?

Answer: In the majority of cases yes. The exception is if there is an extreme infestation. It might take 3 treatments to remove that. It is rare to see an extreme infestation but it does happen. A third treatment might be required if someone in the family or a nanny did not get checked at the initial visit and has reinfested the family. If we do find live adult bugs at the recheck appointment a third treatment may be needed. Again this is rare.

Question: Do you charge for follow up treatments?

Answer: Yes, at the same rate as the initial visit but the follow up visit is usually about half the time as the initial visit, as long as we are only treating the same people from the initial visit. If we need to check other family or friends at the second visit it will take us longer.

Question: Why do you have an hourly rate and not a flat rate?

Answer: Because everyone will have a different level of lice infestation. They will also have different hair lengths and hair types. Hourly is the fairest way to charge for the treatment since everyone is different. My ladies and I are very experienced and we are very fast. We are as fast as possible without compromising the thorough process.

Question: What makes you better than other lice removal companies?

Answer: We are a family owned business with a high ranking on Yelp. With over 120- 5 star reviews, we have been servicing Los Angeles and the surrounding areas for over 9 years. The ladies who come to your home have over 12 years of experience removing lice and helping families with the stress that comes with an infestation. We do not stop until all lice are gone and families are back to their happy lice free lives. Other companies are hiring new people constantly. There is an extremely high turn over rate in lice specialists because it is a very demanding job. We stand on our feet for hours and this is very hard on our backs. These other companies hire new people constantly and then they only work for a few months before they quit. Lice Angeles does not have a high turn over of new ladies. We have kept a core group of the same team for over 9 years. These ladies have worked for other lice removal companies before Lice Angeles so they are even more experienced in the profession. Also we love the families we serve and we are fully committed to removing their lice!
